As a painter, I am glad that we used predominantly linseed oil by the time I painted, and "turpenoid" was supposedly less toxic than turpentine.

I think the thing your piece really implies is that we need to allow our readers to get into the weeds with us, but at the same time, we need to back up and make sure the painting still makes sense.

At the end of the day, I love a reader-centric focus. Write what you enjoy, but think about your readers all the time. Thanks for a thoughtful post, David!
