Brilliant advice here. 🙏 Defer to digital! Then go organic voice. Then go scheduled but highly focused voice and video.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I would be curious to hear how you might apply this to in-person community building. I find that I am often pulled to want to set up in person connects with new members of the community I am building but then also pulled to protecting my energy so I can focus on building the community.

How have you balanced building communities with participating in them?

I think it's the same for in-person. It's all about knowing your own bandwidth and boundaries. If you're feeling really energized by in-person meetings and feel drawn to doing a lot, then go for it. If not, then you need to say no and offer alternative ways to support them/connect. You could also delegate to members of your team who do have the energy for it.

What's the context of the in-person community?

Yes I think delegating to other members will be big for me. The context is we're a Vancouver based community running about 7-8 in person events per month and although I have delegated a lot of the responsibilities for running those events, I still want to do my best to make sure new members feel they are getting 1-1 treatment and support. We support people on their transformation journey with psychedelics.
